    Praying The Psalms: Psalm 107:10-19

Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
prisoners in affliction and in irons,
for they had rebelled against the words of God,
and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
they fell down, with none to help.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
and burst their bonds apart.
Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
For he shatters the doors of bronze
and cuts in two the bars of iron.
Some were fools through their sinful ways,
and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;
they loathed any kind of food,
and they drew near to the gates of death.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.

The fruits of the Spirit

Read Galatians 5:13-26

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.  Galatians 5:22-23

Ways To Pray:

  • We would seek to bear the fruits of the spirit and wage war with the flesh within us.
  • We would seek to show Godly love towards others, not being envious of others, jealous, having fits of anger, but seek to be peacemakers and not be divisive with our speech and actions.
  • Joy would be present in our lives, and not be snuffed out by bitterness, complaining or rivalry.
  • We would have peace that is beyond understanding, and fight against the fleshly response of anxiety and relying on ourselves over relying and trusting in the Lord.
  • We would be faithful even when it’s costly.
  • We would pursue these things in gentleness towards our spouses, children, friends and coworkers.
  • We would have self control, doing the will of God in the absence of others, living out of faith even behind closed doors.
  • We would be motivated, not by the law that no longer bound us, but by the free gift of Grace we have in Christ Jesus, that our seeking to do the Will of God would be an act of worship.

Sinhalese (sin-uh-LEEZE) in
China, Hong Kong

The Sinhala migrated from India to Sri Lanka as early as the 6th century B.C. where they became known as Sinhalese. The Sinhalese in Hong Kong speak their language of Sinhala among themselves. They also speak English which allows them to communicate with others in this land where English is one of the trade languages. The Sinhalese people continue traditions that have been passed from their ancestors in Sri Lanka, while of necessity obeying the laws of the local government. Most of the Sinhalese traditions on marriage center on a single nuclear family, consisting of a married couple and their children. The primary religion among the Sinhalese is Buddhism. There are thousands of strong Christian believers in Hong Kong who can take the life-changing gospel to the Sinhalese among them.

Ways To Pray:

  • Pray for his kingdom to come and his will to be done among the Buddhist Sinhalese people in Hong Kong.

  • Pray for a movement of Buddhist Sinhalese households to study the Bible and accept the blessings of Christ.

  • Pray for a spiritual hunger that will drive the Sinhalese people to the arms of Jesus.

  • Pray for workers who are filled with the fruit and the power of the Holy Spirit to go to the Sinhalese people.
